Installation of the steel building walls is generally done before the roof. Before starting the wall installation, check to be sure that the eave strut and girts are straight and plumb. One method of aligning the girts is to cut temporary wood blocking to the proper length and install between the lines of girts.. This blocking can be moved from bay to bay which will reduce the number of pieces required. Normally, one line of blocking per bay will be sufficient. Banding can also be used to hold the girls straight and plumb.
Wood blocking could be a 2 x 4 stud, cut to girt spacing length. Refer to the cross section or wall framing elevations drawing to determine the girt spacing.
