SPECIFICATIONS
I. GENERAL
A. The Fall Protection and Insulation Support System shall be the Sky-Web II® System as furnished by
our insulation vendor and installed in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
II. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A. The basic mesh shall be a knotted mesh on a nominal 2 3/4" by 2 3/4" grid. The mesh shall be made from white, twisted twine of DuPont® 6-6 nylon fiber.
B. Mesh for interior bays shall be made from #21 twine. Mesh for end bays shall be made from #21 twine, except for the outside edge which shall be made from #30 twine for a width of 6 feet. The outside selvage edge of the end bay mesh shall have orange thread markers in the twine.
C. The mesh shall have a double selvage along the two edges parallel to the length of the mesh.
D. The mesh shall be furnished up to 66 feet wide by the building width. (A mesh may cover one bay or two bays of building length and will extend eave-to-eave across the building.)
III. PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
A. The twine used to make the mesh shall have a minimum tensile strength of 310 pounds for the #30 twine and 210 pounds for the #21 twine. The twine shall have a yield of 625 feet per pound for the #30 twine and 825 feet per pound for the # 21 twine.
B. The mesh shall weigh approximately 0.12 ounces per square foot.
IV. SKY-WEB II SYSTEM APPLICATION
A. The roof structural system shall be in place prior to installation of the Sky-Web II® system.
B. The Sky-Web II® system shall remain in place after the metal roofing is installed.
V. FASTENERS AND ATTACHMENT HARDWARE
A. Connections to eave members and gable members shall be made by looping the mesh into 1/8" wire clips attached to 18-gauge steel straps in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. The steel straps shall be fastened with self-drilling screws in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Mesh-to-mesh edge connections shall be made with #36 braided nylon twine cord that is pre-wound on to 1 X 12 lacing "needles" in accordance per manufacturer's instructions. #36 twine shall have a minimum tensile strength of 350 pounds and a yield of 490 feet per pound.
VI. FIRE HAZARD CLASSIFICATION
The Sky-Web II® system shall have a Flame Spread Index of zero and a smoke Developed Index of 3.0 or less in accordance with U.L. 723.
