Building Codes and Drawings (continued from yesterday)

Posted on Wednesday 24 January 2007

Think twice before you buy. Many steel building manufacturers or suppliers will advertise the basic requirements for coding and represent them as sufficient to any and every permitting process. This might leave you with a structure that will not be approved for erection. Here’s an important fact worth highlighting. Just because a manufacturer has designated one of its products as having met code does not mean that the building will necessarily meet ALL of the building codes for your particular area. There are basic codes that a manufacturer may meet at a minimum level. However, you want more than that.

You want your new steel building to not only meet these building codes, but surpass them. This is an indication that you are dealing with a reputable manufacturer which will stand behind its product. Yet, you will be responsible to find out if the building meets the codes of the designated area in which construction will begin. But, when you order your building from General Steel you have less to worry about. At General Steel we have all these matters in mind. We pre-engineer the steel buildings we supply our customers to satisfy the code requirements of your particular area. Not only that, but at General Steel we have a variety of exterior options available to make that look of your steel building spectacular. While the building is framed with steel, it won’t look steel when it’s done. Call us today at 1-800-745-2685 to see how you can get started. Continue reading tomorrow for more information on building codes and drawings and the important role they play in the steel building process…
