Modern day steel structures have vast clear-span width capacity. Traditional applications of construction methods usually require unattractive interior columns, while a pre-engineered steel building can easily handle a maximum of up to 300 feet of clear-span width. While prospective growth might be hard with a conventional edifice, it is pretty simple with a pre-fabricated, pre-engineered building as these remarkable structures can be easily lengthened. First, the end-wall is temporarily removed. Then, additional framing is installed, followed by the wall and roof panels. Finally the end-wall is re-attached.

In general, steel buildings are cheaper to construct than traditional methods despite the efficiency we talked about yesterday. For example, the cost of labor for any steel structure is cheaper because the steel beams are usually pre-drilled and pre-welded at the manufacturer. There is also a reduction of material waste at the job site (and therefore clean-up time). Furthermore, a quicker completion time means that your building will be open and ready for business sooner. The sooner the building is able to do business the better for your organization (or whoever occupies the building).

Modern pre-engineered steel buildings have numerous advantages when compared to other means of construction. For example, one advantage is the simplicity of the construction process (from a logistical standpoint). In other words, most steel buildings can be purchased from a single vendor. As a result, you have the benefit of needing just one supplier, one broker, and one contract manufacturer to be responsible for the whole layout, fabrication and shipping. Separate sources for the various accessories and components are unnecessary. Because of this streamlined process, the General Contactor or building purchaser has no cause to worry about any construction delays due to incomplete or delayed shipments of vital accessories and components. When using a single-source vendor, you have only one person to contact should anything go wrong. But, what about the cost of a steel building? Does such efficiency come at a higher price than traditional construction? Stay tuned …

Did you know that the largest percentage of the both one and two story business and commercial sector presently in the United States of America is comprised by steel buildings? This has recently been reported by the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA). In fact, steel has acquired a greater amount of industry share in not just the well-established beige warehousing category, but also in state-of-the-art office complexes, expansive airplane manufacturing facilities, and modern retail shopping malls. Indeed, a larger amount of organizations in the private economic sector are departing from common construction designs in lieu of the cost savings of steel. As you can see, there are a number of applications of steel buildings over other alternative forms of construction. With each of these various applications are a number of different advantages. Over the next week we will look at just some of the advantages a steel building system has to offer.
The final selection for the correct steel structure should analyze all of these points accordingly before any selection is reached. Another choice of metal building may win out when careful analysis of the apparently number one choice is accomplished. Without the advantage of the insight from others like contractors, designers, and manufacturers, a buyer can come to an uninformed, and incorrect, choice. General Steel will be more than happy to provide you with information and work with you on your new building project from start to finish. Call us today at 1-800-745-2685 to get started.

Not just any pre-fabricated, pre-engineered steel building can be used for any work site as the ground will help determine what can be constructed. It is vital to obtain quality soil type information. An example is that having acceptable soil low price spread footings may be employed at the building base. Having “bad” soil expensive and work time consuming deep foundations may be necessitated. Do not use a more substantial and less flexible pre-engineered steel building if ground conditions are deficient as the settling of the ground could be a difficulty.

It is logical to plug in any proposed eventual enlargement for the steel building as well as how changeable the structure should be. If future enlargement is foreseen for the prospective steel structure in the next few years, steps should be followed to make certain that the choice of building framework is easily modifiable to this growth once it does take place. If a rigid scheme of construction is specified and the primary and secondary structures are inflexible, future change is uncertain.

Customers apprehensive about the threat of fire should choose the nonflammability of premium quality steel. But, cheap low grade metal structure systems made up of flimsier gauged metal may be not easy to overlay with incombustible proofing, bringing a complete fire retardant package into debate. Additional fire resistant application isn’t required for most all one level pre-engineered steel structure systems as they are in an “unprotected, non-combustible class.”

Any judgments in regards to price proficiency of any selected metal building should be concentrated on not shopping for a bargain priced building first off. Cautious attention should be provided that all-steel structure that will secure the maximum expenditure proficiency for the complete project.
